Foreclosure is not always the fault of sub-prime lenders or owners buying more than they can afford.
When the economy is strong, and consumer confidence is high, everyone is spending and making money. In business you often need to spend more money to keep up with the busy market. Take away ones income and it does not take long to find yourself in a serious financial crisis. Your business debts remain the same, your payroll stays the same, and you still have equipment, insurance, fuel, tools and much more that still needs to be paid. You start sacrificing personal debts to try and save your business, until you realize that it is impossible. Slowly your frustrations develop into panic and the beginning and depletion of personal assets is eminent to pay minor bills until the worst happens, which is losing your home.
I promise you if Jose still had money he would still be in his home. You take a 2.5 M loan, then quit your job and stay unemployed . See how long it takes you to fail. It won’t be too long.
I give Jose alot of credit for his book and his honesty. When MLB wanted to know the TRUTH about steroids and players involvement, no one was offering any answers, Jose did what he had to because MLB did not believe his story. Jose was totally honest yet MLB could not believe the names Jose named could possibly be involved in steroid use. Lets face the truth, MLB cares about it’s public image and more importantly the mighty dollar it produces. Have you ever been accused wrongly of something you know the truth about yet no one believes you? Now pretend
it involves your occupation, your livelyhood, your biggest love in your life, your biggest love in this world, and no one believes you. I think being angry is an understatement.
I do not think Jose owes anyone an apology. The other players are the cowards that cheated and kept quiet about it.
There is alot of good Jose could still do to help prevent young athletes from using steroids and it’s many implications. He could also help educate others in better money management, losing the millions he has in divorce.
Bottom line, “money makes the world go round”, if you have no money, you have no world.
Or in the pro athletes world, “no money, no honey.”
I wish Jose all the best in his future life and thank him for the bravery he demonstrated with the honesty of his book. That took alot of guts.
You know, throughout your entire life you have heard the words, save your money, save your money. But no one ever sets you down and explains how to save money.
I think it is time to start educating from pre-school through college to teach our children and young adults “how to save money” so that they will clearly understand the value and benefits in saving money for their future.
Maybe instead of Shakespeare being manditory reading we could substitute for Suze Orman?
